Findings Two
Compared to a child, a teenager retains more information, and when the information is negative, they tend to put the things the see into action. When looking at the current world, there is a problem with alcohol and drug abuse; however, this can be an indirect relation from the media. As people grow up, things that happen to them can make an impact; for example, a child’s father may not be at home a lot, so in the future that child might have a problem with being left alone. “Sometimes movies, television, and advertisements use images of drugs, alcohol, and cigarettes to make characters seem rebellious or cool to increase the ratings of a show or to sell products” (1). If this is the case, the impact it has on people is due to certain photos. When children mature over time they become less innocent and retain all of the negativity they come upon in their lives (McDuffe 1). Well then who is responsible for letting this happen? Studies show that the paid affiliations are the ones that approve the photos that are put out (Marinello 1). Drug and alcohol abuse is indirectly affected by the media, in other words, photography.

ReplyDeleteI completely agree with the fact that people are affected by what happened in their pasts, but i think people also have a choice on how it affects them depending on their mental strength. I also believe that photography is media, but I do not think it is media’s fault. Media is a tool wielded by people we should not blame it for individuals mistakes.
