"AP journalists document world events every day. Afghanistan is no exception. We feel it is our journalistic duty to show the reality of the war there, however unpleasant and brutal that sometimes is."
In this quote I found on the ABC news website, Santiago Lyon is stating why they did not honor the family of a dead soldier. In the paragraphs preceding, the family of the soldier said they do not want anyone to portray their family member; however, the photographers on scene did not abide by the wish. No matter how terrible the photos being taken are, they will not take any excuse because they feel they should portray to the world what is happening to the people we know and love. This is in violation of photography laws because they did not have permission to take the photo. This can affect other photographers that are rising up because they can eventually think they can take pictures of anything and break the rules. If some pictures aren't meant to be taken, what pictures that we know of are illegal? Why do people choose the most gruesome pictures to put on the cover of a magazine or newspaper?
